Pixel Art Character Design w/ Commentary!
Переглядів 18 тис.Місяць тому
Heya Pals, we're back with some more pixel art content for you. This time we're taking it easy with a live design session / timelapse with some commentary. This one took quite a while to get right, probably needed a bit more reference work to avoid all the pixel pushing in the middle of the process, but I'm happy with where the character ended up, for now! Hope you find the process enjoyable an...
I built an editor to instantly teleport around my game's quests
Переглядів 12 тис.Місяць тому
Hey pals! Just a short update from me! I filmed this last weekend but didn't have a chance to edit it as I've been out of town. Building this little quest editor to click through my game was a really fun break from the grant applications I've been doing and totally relieved a lot of stress that was building around managing quest content in Insignia. I'm actually working on a steam page right no...

Heya Pals! Back with another game engine experiment, this time with GameMaker! It's been so long since I've tried this engine, it was a totally new experience. I was proud of my entry but not super confident I'll win any awards this time. Still, it was a great experience! Pixel Art Class - Nailing those Details!
The video actually answered a lot of my questions! Thank you so much
Honestly, before this video, I couldn't wrap my head around how tiny 16 x 16 pngs could ever scale up to modern resolutions. I know pixel games literally do it, but I couldn't wrap my head around the how. Literally somethin that kept me up at night and paralyzed my in making pixel art. Thanks for finally setting my head straight!
Anyone know the song playing around 11:00 ? it's so good
Nvm found it, Breezy by Rifti Beats on Chocobo and Chill 1 album
As a guy who just came out of a recent game jam where I was the pixel artist, I really wish I had updated my aseprite before that, because that tilemap mode would sure as hell helped a lot.
this is so beautiful! good job!
Is your game going to be available on android?
Happy to have found this channel, I really needed a video like this as I just started to get into pixel animation.
I enjoy the technical theroy and history blend into "this is how it's done"
Damn the difference between your earlier sprite and the newer one is huge. At first I thought the animation was really good for the older one (which it still is) but then it’s really clear what you’re saying with using shapes to make animations more traceable. God I want to be this good someday.
LET'S GOOOOOO!!!
just played through it. really impressive. both inspiring and disheartening to me as a beginner (software engineer with beginner art skills). Great job man & whoever you did this with
so after it become a gif. and I want it on my video(.mp4). what software do you use? do you convert the gif to mp4 first? please help
As someone with art experience specifically digital sketching/painting i feel it's helped me quite a bit already. I do feel pixel art in general helps me think even more of shape and relation of light - dark more than digital or traditional art because of the size restrictions and feel it's helped my art outside of pixel art as well which is always really fun to see. I like using pixel art for idea's and brain dumping where i can get out a lot more because I'm not as absorbed in the minor things and more focused on the overall concept and design aspects
This is the hardest fucking thing I've ever tried to do
Top down games: Hey lets use asset density and noise to tell players they can't go in an area without having to spell it out. 2d side scrollers: What if the player could pass through this part of the wall that's been totally solid up to this point and has no visual difference from the rest of the wall in order to get a secret power-up?? Thanks, Megaman, for making me spend an extra 15 minutes on each mission sliding down all of the walls and repeatedly dying by jumping off platforms hoping another one below that I couldn't see would break my fall...
최고의 에이스프라이트 가이드
Hi.that was amazing.but i have question.what is the app name that you use?
+1 thanks you!!
my gravity is lower or moves slower down then yours with linear drag on 10 i float down like in honey idk why my linear drag is 0
i really like this video ,thanks for shared
Amazing as always
Absolutely loved this video. I have never thought I was alone in this, but I have definitely always thought the firelink return reveal was an incredibly special moment in the game as well. I think it's really where a lot of people come to love and respect the game on that next level. The other big one for me was the lowest Blighttown bonfire, before Quelaag. I was shook at that point and had to do a genuine self engagement about if and how I wanted to continue the game 😂 still proud of myself I picked up the controller again but I almost hollowed
Is it possible to create videos like this one: ua-cam.com/video/iYUoqKxsslg/v-deo.htmlsi=TcT6KxJ3DlYapApJ using Aseprite?
I like Cavalier more than isometric
I found your channel via Aesprite. I started doing this on my own and my ball looks rough but I'm happy to brush off the artistic dust in a new area and make awesome stuff.
when I do an animation I use to split the draw. How can I unite all the layers in one frame easily?
Man I really want to play this game! Keep it up!
felt like I was getting candy when you kept adding more to the NPCs hierachy
What did you just call me?! 😠
I didn't watch the whole thing, but I'm curious as to why you didn't just use blend trees?
THANK YOU SO MUCH
You can still stream sporadically on UA-cam, Adam. Maybe when you're doing pixel art, since that's what the YT audience is interested in the most.
my favorite part was when he said "it's drawing time" and drew all over a viewer's work
hey thank you for seemingly always making updated ground-floor videos. as a programmer trying to do art for my game, your videos have been super helpful and, importantly, to the point.
It's completely admirable how you go from nothing to some amazing sprites almost like you're working with clay, man. Hats off.
I was really fighting with this. Thanks Adam!
Thanks so much for making this video! I just found your channel today randomly- and I can see this is solving things that I am struggling with in my own game (yeah i have a huge movement script of tons of 'if' statements). As a beginning C# user it's so hard for me to understand when something isn't working right! This will help so much!
Unbelivable that I said this week I would start to learn how to animate in aseprite and you drop a video. Man, you are simply the best!!!
sry for so many questions but was wandering when i take damage i get dealt double the damage in some spots cuz of the 2 colliders is there a way no to?
Thank you for the video! ❤
Thank you!! This has been the most helpful video on making art that I have seen. The analogy with the map is really helpful not just with art but with developing other skills as well
Perfect timing, I wanted to get more into animation
Will you be coming back to YT to stream?
It was very interesting, I was able to learn many things, but I have a design question. How to animate ball in rotating form?
Another amazing video. Thanks, Adam!
Can you do cat/dog tail sway?
Thank you for posting this right as I was thinking about trying to animate things in Aseprite, lol. Super useful!
Love this video. If I were to dabble with getting into creating fun pixel scenes for fun in the style of Pokemon GSC and even GBA version of Link to the Past, and also Pokemon Ruby, and even Fire Red style, which software options would you recommend to me? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance 😁
This is so helpful! Thanks Adam!
YESSSS!! Oh this is the pixel class I was hoping to find!! :D I have recently been getting into pixel art for a possible experimental project and I am so glad you did a video on top down! * ^ * This style of game has always been a huge inspiration for me and I really hope to be able to create something with that kind of feel to it. Thank you so much for the Pixel Art Class tutorials they really have been invaluable
